Brouwerij De Meester
Beerstyle:
Alcohol: 9,5%
IBU: 43
Untappd: 3.64
Dark, deep, and unreservedly masterful.
A quadrupel is by nature not a modest beer — and the Maître Quad from Brewery De Meester in Lendelede is certainly not. The brewery works exclusively with hop flowers from Poperinge and adds no color pigments, foam enhancers, or artificial flavorings — what you get in this glass is pure craftsmanship.
The Maître Quad presents itself in a deep reddish-brown guise and unfolds layer by layer. The aromatic bouquet takes you past licorice, ripe banana, and dried fruit, while the taste is richly sweet and full-bodied, with subtle notes of dark chocolate and a pleasant malty bitterness that keeps everything in balance. The alcohol warmth is present but never intrusive — this is a beer that carries its power gracefully.
This is not a beer to drink quickly. The Maître Quad calls for a lazy evening, a comfortable chair, and the willingness to think of nothing else for a while. Subtle, elegant, and complex — exactly as a true master should be.
Serve in a tulip glass at room temperature and pair with aged hard cheese or dark chocolate.
